A pet license is yet another way to make sure your pet is protected if they become lost! Pets licensed after January 31st will have a $10 late fee. Rabies vaccination must be valid through November 1st of 2025. Morris County towns hold rabies clinics each year to vaccinate dogs and cats. Rabies vaccines arefree and open to all New Jersey residents! Find an upcoming Morris County Rabies clinic here. If you have an unlicensed dog after the enrollment period there is a $50 fine, plus the licensing and late fees.

Dogs seven months of age or older must be licensed annually through the municipality where the owner lives. The owner must present proof that the dog has been vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian, and that its immunity will extend through at least ten months of the twelve-month license period. (An exemption will be granted if the owner presents written certification from a veterinarian that the dog cannot be vaccinated due to a medical condition or course of therapy).
