The next adventure will be a 3-4 mile walk at Loantaka Park. Participants are able to shorten the walk by turning back at any point. The walk will start at the parking lot on Loantaka Way at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25th. The group will walk on the paved path to the Green Village Post Office. Participants are welcome to bring their dogs on this walk. Snow/ice date is Thursday, February 27th at 9:30 a.m. at the same location.
The first event in March will be a combination "learn and explore" trip to NYC. Participants will first attend the online video class hosted by The Adult School of the Chathams, Madison, and Florham Park called "Art Talk: Lille Bliss" on Tuesday, March 11th at 7-8 p.m. In the class they will learn how Lille Bliss was instrumental in the founding of the Museum of Modern Art in midtown Manhattan. To register to attend the online class, call The Adult School of the Chathams, Madison, and Florham Park at 973-443-9222. There is no fee to attend only one online class but you must call to register. Note that if you have registered for any Spring 2025 class offered by The Adult School of the Chathams, Madison, and Florham Park, there will not be any fee to sign up for any additional classes but you need to call the Adult School and extend your registration to cover the additional classes.
During the week following the video class, the Chatham Chiliad group will meet at the Chatham Train Station for a trip to the MoMA to see the special exhibit, "Lillie P. Bliss and the Birth of the Modern". Entrance to the museum will be free for Chatham Chiliad participants. To accommodate all participants schedules, the trip to the MoMA will be offered on multiple days. The final event in March is a stroll along the Hudson River, with awesome views of Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, and the NYC skyline. The group will meet at the parking lot by the Marina at Liberty State Park at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25th. From there, the group will follow the wide paved walkway while taking in the sights. Walkers will cover about 4 miles, although they may turn back at any point. It is free to enter Liberty State Park and parking is also free. Snow/ice/rain date is Thursday, March 27th at 9:30 a.m. at the same location.
Chatham Chiliad operates under the auspices of the Senior Advisory Group of the Chathams, and is open to all residents of the Chathams aged 60+. There is no fee to join or to participate in any events. Participants pay for their own transportation and refreshments (if any).
