Lead Service Line Identification and Replacement Program

Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Releases Lead Service Line Communications Toolkit

To reduce the potential risks from lead in drinking water, New Jersey enacted the Lead Service Line Replacement Law in July 2021 (P.L. 2021, Ch. 183) that requires drinking water systems to inventory service lines, notify residents of the potential presence of lead in their service lines, and plan for the replacement of all lead service lines within 10 ten years.

To compile the inventory, the Borough is sending a letter to all residents asking them to look at their service lines and submit information on the materials used via e-mail or a form. Residents who need help locating their service lines or identifying the material can contact DPW directly for guidance. Residents can submit this information directly using this link.
