Health, Wellness & Living Event to be held March 2, 10am - 2pm at Chatham Fish & Game Club

The Mayors Wellness Campaign Advisory Committee of the Chathams would like to serve the community with screening for heart disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the state of New Jersey and the United States of America (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2023). Heart disease is an umbrella term for medical conditions: coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, cardiac arrest, congestive heart failure, peripheral artery disease, dysrhythmia, and stroke (American Heart Association, 2023). One of the major problems with early heart disease is that it is often without symptoms. Therefore, routine screening is essential.

Standard screening for heart disease includes a blood pressure check and a cholesterol panel. There is also a strong link between diabetes and heart disease; uncontrolled blood sugar over time causes damage to blood vessels and significantly increases heart disease risk (CDC, 2023). Routine screening for diabetes is also essential in heart disease prevention and/or management.

Visit us for your complimentary blood pressure screening at the Health, Wellness & Living event, hosted by the Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce, sponsored by Chatham Fish & Game Club Saturday March 2, at the Chatham Fish & Game Club, 10 AM-2 PM.
